About The Employer

Our client is the cancer health and wellbeing charity. They help people feel better in mind, body and spirit by offering support through their team of cancer support experts (which includes doctors, nutritionists, counsellors and exercise therapists).

The charity helps people with cancer to feel more physically and emotionally able to manage the impacts of their diagnosis and treatment, be more in control of their choices and have the best quality of life possible. By making their services freely available, their aim is for all people with cancer to be able to access the high-quality support they need.

About the Role

The charity is delighted to be recruiting a Chef on a zero-hour basis. They are seeking an experienced individual who can work independently in their kitchen, preparing fresh, handmade, seasonal, healthy and nutritious lunches to service users, supporters, external visitors and the local community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve meals in line with dietary requirements and centre standards.
  • Maintain excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
  • Manage stock, ordering, and overall kitchen organisation.
  • Work independently and take initiative during service.
  • Support occasional events and catering requests.

About You

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a calm, supportive environment and can confidently manage kitchen operations when working solo.

Candidates should have proven experience as a chef in a similar setting with the ability to work independently and manage kitchen operations. They will have a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain one) and be available to work flexibly across weekdays, evening and weekends.

In return for your hard work and dedication, they offer:

  • A workspace set in a beautiful semi-rural location on the outskirts of Bristol.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • Free food after or in-between shifts.
  • Statutory annual leave and sick leave.
  • Access to subsidised wellbeing

Timetable for appointment

Closing date: The vacancy will remain open until a suitable candidate is found. Applications should be made as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Interview: A first stage interview will be held in Bristol (date to be advised) with successful candidates invited to attend a taster shift in the charity's kitchen.

Start date: ASAP, to be agreed with the successful candidate.
