SLR Recruitment are delighted to be working with a local shipping client who are looking for an Operations Planner to join their team based in Portsmouth.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to join a busy operations team, playing a key role in the efficient planning of vessel and terminal operations while coordinating the terminal's operational workforce.
Role Details:
Salary: 33,000 - 37,000 DOE
Hours: 40 hours per week
Rotation: 3-week rota: 2 weeks Monday-Friday, followed by 1 week Wednesday-Sunday
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and coordinate vessel and terminal operations efficiently.
Coordinate and schedule the terminal's operational labour force
Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth day to day operations
Monitor operational activity and respond quickly to changing priorities
Ensure planning is completed accurately while meeting operational deadlines
Build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the business
Identify and resolve operational issues in a timely and effective manner
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
Previous experience within shipping, logistics or operations planning
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word
An awareness of commercial and financial considerations
Experience using Terminal Operating Systems would be advantageous, but is not essential
