• £41,000 starting salary (rising to £45,000 within 2 years)

The Opportunity Are you a Vehicle Technician, Car Mechanic or Automotive Engineer looking for something different?

No rail experience needed
We will cross-train you from automotive into rail engineering
You ll use your existing mechanical skills while learning to work on freight locomotives and rolling stock a stable, higher-paying, and long-term career path.

Ideal Background We are specifically looking for people from:

• Vehicle Technician / Car Mechanic
• Automotive Technician (Dealership or Independent Garage)
• HGV / LGV Technician
• Plant Fitter / Plant Mechanic
• REME / Forces Vehicle Mechanic

If you can diagnose and fix vehicles we can train you on trains

What You ll Be Doing

• Carrying out maintenance and servicing on rail vehicles
• Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
• Performing inspections and testing
• Completing maintenance paperwork
• Working independently in a mobile role (van provided)

Working Pattern

• Rolling 6-week rota
• Typically 4 x 10-hour shifts
• Includes as required support week

What You Need

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance / Mechanical Engineering
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Ability to pass:
  • DBS check
  • Medical
  • Drug & alcohol screening
• British citizen (role requirement)
