Job Description

Opus are seeking the support of a Finance & Admin Apprentice to join their team.

Purpose of the role:

Support the Operational Finance team in delivering accurate payroll, invoicing, reporting and administrative processes across the business. The apprentice will develop knowledge of business administration, finance operations and customer service whilst working towards a Business Administration qualification. This role provides an opportunity to gain experience across finance, payroll and operational support functions within a fast-paced recruitment business.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Operational Finance team, including payroll processing, invoicing and financial transactions.
  • Assist with the administration of worker placements, timesheets and pay records within business systems.
  • Respond to worker, client and internal colleague queries, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Support weekly payroll activities, including validating information and checking data accuracy before processing.
  • Assist with reporting activities, preparing regular reports and maintaining data records.
  • Learn and follow business processes to ensure compliance with internal controls and client requirements.
  • Support audits and quality checks by reviewing information and highlighting discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with company procedures.
  • Build effective working relationships with colleagues across Operations, Candidate Management, Onboarding and Finance teams.
  • Undertake other administrative duties and projects as required to support the Operational Finance function.

Person specification:

  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage deadlines.
  • Comfortable working with numbers and data.
  • Keen to learn and develop new skills through work and study.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel or a willingness to learn.
  • Able to work collaboratively with colleagues across different teams.
