Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Process Engineering Manager to lead wafer process development and oversee end-to-end delivery within a semiconductor fabrication environment. This is a critical technical and leadership position, operating within a high-technology setting that combines cutting-edge R&D with low-volume, high-quality manufacturing. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing next-generation semiconductor technologies, driving process innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of development and production objectives.

Key Responsibilities:Leadership:
  • Drive process innovation to support the organisation's technology roadmap.
  • Own end-to-end delivery performance within the wafer fabrication facility for both R&D and low-volume production activities.
  • Set clear objectives and deliverables for team members, aligned with business and customer requirements.
  • Lead performance management activities to support employee development and engagement.
  • Develop team capability through structured skills development programmes, ensuring sufficient capacity, resilience, and expertise across multiple projects.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance culture.
  • Promote continuous improvement by embedding lessons learned into future process and product development.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards and best practices.
Technical Leadership:
  • Lead semiconductor process development activities to maintain world-class process capability and support future technology requirements.
  • Champion structured problem-solving and continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean Six Sigma principles where appropriate.
  • Drive data-led decision-making to accelerate R&D cycles and improve process outcomes.
  • Lead yield improvement initiatives across wafer fabrication processes.
  • Support the assessment, development, and implementation of new materials and process technologies.
To be considered you will need the following:
  • Degree (or higher qualification) in a relevant technical discipline such as:
    • Engineering
    • Materials Science
    • Physics
    • Chemistry
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience within a semiconductor wafer fabrication environment.
  • Previous experience in a technical leadership, supervisory, or management role.
  • Broad knowledge of semiconductor processing techniques.
  • Strong understanding of III-V semiconductor materials and associated manufacturing processes.
  • Proven ability to build, motivate, and develop high-performing technical teams.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
  • Experience in laser integrated circuits (ICs) and/or optical device manufacturing.
  • Experience leading new materials evaluation and development programmes within an R&D environment.
  • Knowledge of advanced yield improvement methodologies and process optimisation techniques.
