Starling Bank
Description Hello, we're Starling. Banking was broken - so we decided to fix it. The vision? Fast technology, fair service and honest values. All at the tap of a phone, all the time. We built Britain's first digital bank. One hard-won banking licence later, we set about giving people a new way to spend, save and manage their money (and take better care of the planet, too). We're changing banking for good. Back then, we were obsessed with unravelling the knotty world of finance and solving people's problems rather than selling them stuff. We still are. Since then, we've grown. A lot. Over four million accounts (and four account types!). A team of thousands. Headquartered in London with offices in Cardiff, Dublin, Manchester and Southampton. Seven years voted Which? Recommended Provider and Britain's Best Banking Brand. Still zero branches. Our culture is open, inclusive and focused on solving real customer problems, with an emphasis on doing the right thing, even when it's not always the easy thing. From our approach to working together and sustainability to how we build our products, our decisions need to make the world - and Starling - a better place to be. Everyone at Starling is essential to our mission, which is really quite simple: to solve our customer's problems - and build the best bank in the world! And now we're providing Starling to other banks, via a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) proposition through our subsidiary Engine, using the proprietary technology platform that it uses to power our own bank. We are looking for a senior employment lawyer to support the business on all contentious and non-contentious employment matters. The role will report directly to the team's Group Head of Employment Legal. We are happy to consider applications from candidates who will be able to commute to any of our offices. You will have significant influence and exposure across the Starling Group, with the responsibility of managing an employment lawyer in the team. Your work will include: Advising the People team and, sometimes, the wider business on all aspects of employment law, including on employment related regulatory issues such as the application of the SMCR and FCA's Code of Conduct; Delivering and managing legal support to the Group throughout the entire employee life cycle, including policy, hiring (including executive service agreements), dismissals, grievances and appeals, disciplinaries, settlement agreements and employment status matters; Delivering and managing legal support to the corporate and commercial legal functions, including on the application of TUPE; Advising on regulatory issues associated with financial services and banking; Managing international projects for Engine by Starling, either in EMEA or globally, including working with external counsel; Working with the Group's Reward team to advise on compensation arrangements, including on the operation of malus and clawback, deferred compensation arrangements and remuneratIon policies; Managing multiple projects and supporting colleagues to ensure business and enterprise-wide initiatives are executed in a timely and accurate manner; Providing employment law training to the People team and wider business; and Instructing and working with outside counsel where necessary on specialist matters. Requirements Excellent legal training and 6-10 years' PQE gained at a law firm and/or in-house; Very strong technical employment law experience; Experience of banking and financial services; Experience handling regulatory issues in the context of the SMCR, conduct, remuneration matters, and regulatory inquiries; and Capable of working in a fast-paced environment and keen to grow and develop within the organisation. In-house experience in financial services would be preferred, but is not essential for the right candidate. PQE is a guide only. Benefits 25 days holiday (plus take your public holiday allowance whenever works best for you) An extra day's holiday for your birthday Annual leave is increased with length of service, and you can choose to buy or sell up to five extra days off 16 hours paid volunteering time a year Salary sacrifice, company enhanced pension scheme Life insurance at 4x your salary Private Medical Insurance with VitalityHealth including mental health support and cancer care. Starling Bank
Head of Social Media
Starling Bank
Description Hello, we're Starling. We built a new kind of bank because we knew technology had the power to help people save, spend and manage their money in a new and transformative way. We're a fully licensed UK bank with the culture and spirit of a fast-moving, disruptive tech company. We're a bank, but better: fairer, easier to use and designed to demystify money for everyone. We employ more than 3,500 people across our London, Southampton, Cardiff and Manchester offices. We're hiring a Head of Social Media to join our Marketing team during a pivotal new phase of growth. You'll shape Starling's social strategy across multiple platforms as we launch our new brand platform with major above and below-the-line advertising. We are looking for an experienced leader who lives and breathes social media, combining creative flair with a passion for data. Your goal is to move Starling out of the banking category and into the heart of culture. You will treat content as our primary engine for growth, enabling and celebrating our audiences to show the world what it truly means to be good with money. You won't just manage channels; you will build a content ecosystem that ensures Starling is the most discoverable and trusted voice in the digital age. Please apply by close of business Monday 20th July. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Oversight & Channel Ownership: You will own the overarching strategy for Starling's social presence. This means defining the specific role of each channel (from TikTok to LinkedIn), establishing how the brand shows up authentically on each, and ensuring a cohesive visual and tonal "umbrella" across our entire digital footprint. Own Content output: Move beyond ad-hoc posting to build and scale "Content Franchises" and solid talent and creator strategy in consistent, high-value formats across TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn that helps achieve our objectives along the funnel. Optimise for GEO & AI Discoverability: Future-proof our presence. You'll ensure Starling content is structured to win in Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), making us the primary source for AI-driven financial queries and social search. Community Architecture: Shift from "managing comments" to "building communities." You will identify and empower Starling advocates within Reddit, Discord, and niche financial circles. Lead & Inspire: Mentor a high-octane team of creators and platform specialists, fostering an environment where "social-first" is the default setting. Cultural Reactivity: Be the pulse of the brand. You'll lead on proactive influencer partnerships and high-speed reactive content that inserts Starling into the cultural conversation with wit, empathy, and flair. Cross-Functional Synergy: Work alongside Product, Brand, and Data teams to ensure our social strategy isn't a silo, but a feedback loop that informs how we build features and talk to our customers. Paid social extensions: Collaborate with growth team to adapt and scale organic social assets into high performing assets on paid social. Cross-functional collaboration: Work with our customer service team, product marketing and corporate affairs to spot opportunities and react to conversations with proactive cut-through ideas. Requirements Modern Track Record: Proven experience leading social teams in a high-growth, "community-first" environment. You know how to scale a brand without losing its soul. Audience understanding: Ability to understand audience's needs and interest to create content they will want to watch and engage with and find talent and creators that fits with their lifestyle - aligned with our tone of voice and brand narrative. Algorithm & AI Literacy: A deep, intuitive understanding of platform algorithms, GEO, and how LLMs (Large Language Models) categorize and surface brand content. Creative Intuition: The ability to brief and "greenlight" content that feels native to the platform, not like a repurposed TV ad. You will be able to push how a brand behaves on social beyond memes and reactive trends expectations. Risk and compliance: Appetite to learn and accountability to tackle risk to avoid financial promotions that could damage the brand. Ability to operate at speed to ensure the right approvals and audit trails are honoured. Data-Driven Rigor: Expert-level use of Sprout, native analytics, and social listening tools to prove ROI and pivot strategy in real-time. Niche Navigator: Experience in identifying and accessing fragmented audiences-knowing that "the mass market" is now actually a collection of thousands of specific niches. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience, plus a 14.5% pension contribution and a relocation package where applicable. Shape the future of information security for one of the world's most important organisations supporting biomedical research. At UK Biobank, information security isn't simply about protecting systems, it's about safeguarding one of the world's most valuable health research resources. Our data is trusted by more than 22,000 approved researchers across over 60 countries, helping advance our understanding of cancer, dementia, cardiovascular disease, mental health and hundreds of other conditions. Protecting that trust while enabling scientific discovery is fundamental to everything we do. We're entering one of the most significant periods of technology transformation in our history. As we continue to invest in modern cloud platforms, AI-enabled services, new digital capabilities and our £127.6 million headquarters at Manchester Science Park, we're looking for a Director of Information Security to lead the next phase of our information security maturity. This isn't a role focused on maintaining an established security function. It's an opportunity to shape and define a world-class capability Can you do it? As Director of Information Security, you'll report directly to our Chief Technology Officer and provide strategic leadership for information security across UK Biobank. You'll be responsible for ensuring our governance, cyber security, identity management, business continuity, and risk management capabilities continue to evolve alongside an increasingly complex threat landscape. Working closely with colleagues across Data and Technology, Legal, and the wider organisation, you'll embed security into organisational decision-making, providing confidence that our platforms remain secure, resilient, and compliant while continuing to support innovation and world-leading research. This is a unique opportunity to build on the strong foundations already in place while leading the next phase of UK Biobank's security maturity. As we continue our wider technology transformation, you'll shape the organisation's security strategy, strengthen operational capability, and help embed security into every aspect of our cloud platforms, digital services, AI initiatives, and future technologies. You'll lead a growing Information Security function, with the opportunity to develop capability, evolve the team, and foster a positive security culture across the organisation. Working at both strategic and operational levels, you'll influence Executive Leadership and Board discussions while providing the leadership needed to respond to emerging threats, manage organisational risk, and ensure security enables innovation rather than becoming a barrier to it. This is a unique and rare opportunity to shape the future of information security within one of the world's leading biomedical research organisations, protecting data that supports thousands of researchers across the globe while helping deliver the next generation of scientific discovery. You will be responsible for Developing, implementing, and creating a comprehensive information security strategy, providing direction and support to ensure effective implementation of security controls. Conducting regular risk assessments, audits, tests, and modelling to identify and evaluate vulnerabilities and potential threats. Providing regular updates to the executive leadership team and represent information security at board, audit, and governance committees Establishing metrics and enforcing information security policies, procedures, and guidelines aligned with standards and frameworks, particularly ISO27001 and the NCSC Cyber Assessment Framework, as well as regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
