General Operative
Location: Dundee & Angus
Salary: £14.50 an hour, plus company van and fuel card
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time Hours
42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and dependable General Operative to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a team of ten other operatives. You will be responsible for carrying out high-quality general repairs, planned kitchen and bathroom works, and refurbishments to housing properties, while delivering best-in-class customer service and meeting all safety, quality, and cost control standards.
Role Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned refurbishment and maintenance works to a high standard, ensuring all work is completed safely, on time and within budget.
- Deliver excellent customer service to tenants and residents, always maintaining a professional and courteous approach.
- Complete and update work-related tasks electronically using a handheld device (PDA), including job records, timesheets, photographs and vehicle inspections.
- Maintain all company-issued vehicles, tools and equipment in good condition, reporting any damage or defects to your supervisor or Manager.
- Manage materials efficiently by using existing stock or collecting the required materials in line with the company's purchasing and van stock control procedures.
- Comply with all Health and Safety policies, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Attend training sessions and team meetings as required.
- Participate in the out-of-hours call-out rota when required to support emergency repairs and meet service requirements.
Role Criteria:
- Experience working in social housing and council contracts
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence
