Management Accountant - Oxford - Permanant
Savant are pleased to be supporting a well-established business on the outskirts of Oxford in their search for a Management Accountant to join their small but friendly finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a varied, hands-on role within a collaborative environment. Reporting into the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in the day-to-day finance function, taking ownership of the general ledger and supporting the production of accurate and timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
- Prepare and post journals including accruals, prepayments and fixed assets.
- Assist with the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Analyse financial performance and provide meaningful insights to support business decision-making.
- Prepare VAT returns and assist with other statutory reporting requirements.
- Support cash flow reporting and balance sheet management.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Assist with the annual audit and respond to auditor queries.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and controls.
- Provide support across the wider finance function when required.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a Management Accountant or General Ledger Accountant position.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end processes.
- Experience preparing management accounts.
- Excellent reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence using accounting systems.
- Good communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business.
- A proactive, organised approach with strong attention to detail.
- Ideally studying towards or qualified in ACCA, CIMA or ACA, although qualified by experience candidates will also be considered.
