Container Planners Manager

Full time, permanent

We are looking for an organised and motivated leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You'll have strong communication skills, a positive and flexible attitude, and the ability to support, develop and motivate a team while ensuring the efficient planning and movement of equipment across the UK network.

How you will help us and what you can expect

  • Manage individual and team performance, including goal setting, coaching and development plans.
  • Conduct regular 1-2-1 meetings with all direct reports.
  • Build & maintain positive relationship and communication with MSC Geneva Logistics informing them of possible equipment complications that may affect the supply and demand of empty equipment.
  • Monitor routings, stock levels, equipment releases and depot storage caps and always ensure cost effective routings while ensuring flexibility within routing plans to maximise haulage utilisation and service performance.
  • Ensure sufficient equipment is repositioned into required locations in line with forecast demand, including Scotland.
  • Manage the department shared mailbox to ensure all emails are answered within set deadlines.
  • Management and monitoring of off hire and sale containers maximising volumes in line with head office requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to resolve operational challenges and customer & haulier related issues.
  • Proactively consider the equipment Empty surplus/deficit areas, communicating suggestions to Global routing specialists and MSC Geneva Logistics.
  • Provide detailed and accurate reports to MSC Geneva.
  • Build relationship with all Terminals & Depots throughout the UK, communicating planned incoming and evacuation figures and challenging them with shipment and usage of ageing equipment.
  • Produce weekly and monthly routing reports and compile forecast versus actual performance analysis.
  • Monitor and maintain operational rules within the Intermodal Application.
  • Regular meetings with the Container Control, Container Movements supervisors and Logistics manager.
  • Support and deputise for the Logistics manager.

Skills and experience you'll bring to us

  • Proven ability to manage and forward plan within a fast paced, demanding and constantly evolving environment.
  • Ability to address and resolve day to day business issues with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, but within tight deadlines.
  • Good numeracy, literacy, and IT skills, including Microsoft skills (365 programs, / OVA / Paris).
  • Be able to demonstrate a professional, positive and flexible attitude at all times.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • A positive attitude to new business challenges.
  • Ability to support and motivate others.
