Job Description

Three Bridges Recruitment is working with an established and successful business within the construction sector to recruit an experienced Branch Manager based in Forfar.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded and people-focused manager to take ownership of a busy branch, leading a team of approximately 10 to 25 employees and driving performance across sales, operations, customer service and Health & Safety.

You will have responsibility for the overall performance of the branch, ensuring the team delivers an excellent customer experience while achieving sales, margin and profitability targets.

The role of Branch Manager will give you the opportunity to be involved with the following:

  • Taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation and performance of the branch
  • Leading, motivating and developing the branch team to achieve and exceed agreed objectives and KPIs
  • Recruiting, inducting, training and developing employees, ensuring clear opportunities for progression
  • Managing workforce planning to ensure the branch is appropriately resourced
  • Working closely with HR throughout the employee lifecycle
  • Creating an environment of trust, accountability and open communication across the team
  • Driving sales growth, gross margin and profitability in line with agreed budgets
  • Developing the customer pipeline and identifying opportunities to grow the branch
  • Delivering an excellent customer experience and supporting the team with customer requests, complaints, refunds and orders
  • Working with Directors to understand and manage budgets, expenditure and financial objectives
  • Ensuring the highest standards of Health & Safety are maintained throughout the branch
  • Proactively identifying and managing operational and Health & Safety risks
  • Managing stock and supporting improvements in product efficiency and waste reduction
  • Overseeing cash handling, banking, tills and floats
  • Supporting transport management, including vehicle defect checks and compliance
  • Managing resource planning around holidays, training and operational requirements
  • Ensuring company systems are used accurately and effectively across the branch
  • Working collaboratively with other branches to share best practice, supplier information and customer trends
  • Supporting Head Office with operational queries and compliance requirements
  • Ensuring the branch, yard, warehouse, equipment and stock remain safe and secure
  • Continuously identifying opportunities to improve productivity, processes and overall branch performance
You

As Branch Manager you will be skilled and/or experienced in the following:

  • Previous experience leading and developing teams within a commercial or operational environment
  • Experience within the building / construction sector or similar environment would be highly beneficial
  • A proven track record of leading teams to achieve KPIs and commercial objectives
  • Strong understanding of operational processes, controls and branch management
  • Commercially minded with an understanding of sales, margin, profitability and cost control
  • Strong Health & Safety awareness with the ability to promote a safety-first culture
  • Confident managing and developing employees at different levels
  • Strong customer service skills with a passion for delivering an excellent customer experience
  • Confident decision-maker with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to identify root causes and implement practical solutions
  • Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to forward plan and act proactively
  • Numerate and commercially aware with the ability to identify improvements that positively influence profitability
  • Strong IT skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • A positive, driven and hands-on leadership style
  • Approachable, calm and consistent when managing people and making decisions
  • Flexible approach to working hours when required to achieve business objectives
