Voice and Influence Worker (Youth Work)

Contract: 12 weeks

Location: Flexible across multiple sites

Hours: Includes evenings and occasional weekends

Are you passionate about empowering children and young people to be heard, respected, and involved in shaping the services that impact their lives? If so, we've got an exciting opportunity for you!

As a Voice and Influence Worker, you'll be at the heart of participation and advocacy, working directly with children and young people-both one-to-one and in groups-to ensure their voices drive change across social care and beyond. You'll champion their views, support their rights, and help them influence decisions at every level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead inspiring group sessions and 1:1 work that amplify child voice and promote active participation
  • Plan and deliver engaging, purposeful activities with clear outcomes
  • Advocate for children in care and care leavers, helping them understand their rights and feel empowered
  • Creatively present feedback and insights from young people to professionals and decision-makers
  • Support young people to speak directly to senior leaders and influence policy and practice
  • Coordinate Young Inspectors to assess services from a child-centred perspective
  • Keep participation groups energised and inclusive
  • Build strong relationships across sectors to embed child voice in everyday decision-making
  • Deliver training and raise awareness around co-production and youth voice
  • Maintain accurate records and manage budgets in line with RMBC policy
  • Promote inclusive, trauma-informed approaches in everything you do
What We're Looking For
  • Experience working with children and young people-youth work, family support, early help, or education
  • A solid understanding of trauma and how it affects children
  • Background in social care
  • Skilled in group facilitation, engagement, and relationship-building
  • Confident presenting to professionals and advocating for young people
  • Organised, creative, and passionate about participation and co-production
  • Flexible and able to travel across locations, with availability for evenings and occasional weekends
Why Join Us?

This is more than a job-it's a chance to make a real difference. You'll be part of a team that values creativity, compassion, and the power of young voices. If you're ready to inspire change and help shape a better future for children and young people, we'd love to hear from you!
