Advertising and Sponsorship Officer

  • Organisation: Sheffield City Council
  • Pay Rate: £22.20 per hour (PAYE)
  • Job Type: 12-month interim contract

Sheffield City Council are looking for a proactive and people-focused Advertising and Sponsorship Officer to join their Communications Team. This unique role offers the opportunity to drive income, shape partnerships, and contribute to the narrative of Sheffield, a city known for its vibrant community and rich heritage.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Generate revenue through various platforms including the Council's website, intranet, social media, bulk email, outdoor media, publications, and filming opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to identify new commercial opportunities.
  • Ensure all advertising and sponsorship activities align with Council policies, procurement, and priorities.
  • Manage relationships daily while also engaging in longer-term strategic planning.
  • Convert leads into successful advertising and sponsorship opportunities, working closely with design and web teams.
  • Monitor, report, and forecast revenue to ensure targets are met.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in advertising, sponsorship, or sales with a proven track record of generating revenue and meeting targets.
  • Strategic thinker with strong planning skills and the ability to prioritise around key events.
  • Financial acumen with experience in forecasting, tracking, and reporting.
  • Excellent customer service skills, professionalism, and the ability to handle sensitive or challenging situations with resilience.
  • Strong written communication skills for effective sales, promotion, and stakeholder liaison.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to compliance with policy and legislation.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and complex information.
  • Understanding of local government issues and constraints, and familiarity with advertising and sponsorship codes (e.g., CAP Code).
  • Local knowledge of Sheffield or the willingness to quickly develop this knowledge.
