6 Month Contract

Our client, a leading organization in the utilities industry, is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Planning Specialist to join their Major Programme Delivery (MPD) team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to transformative projects that align with strategic objectives and enhance governance outcomes!

About the Role: As the P6 Planner, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that major initiatives are executed to the highest standards. Your expertise in project planning will be pivotal in supporting critical programs and initiatives across the organization's portfolio. You can be based in Wokingham, Warwick, Glasgow, or London, with the flexibility of hybrid working arrangements!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead key project planning principles including Scheduling, Risk Analysis, Baseline Management, and Critical Path Analysis.
  • Establish and maintain Project Plans in collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Manage variances and change control processes post-baseline.
  • Create and uphold project structures for smooth execution.
  • Facilitate energizing planning sessions with workstreams and stakeholders.
  • Offer guidance to project managers on planning approaches and tools tailored to project needs.
  • Identify future capacity and capability requirements, collaborating with the team to develop strategies.
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of project data and reporting.
  • Work closely with workstream leads to proactively manage and track project plans.
  • Report on plan progress through robust governance structures.
  • Support risk identification and mitigation planning for the program.
  • Lead and run workshops as needed while assisting with other PMO tasks.

About You:

  • Proven experience in reviewing project progress data, including schedules, resources, and costs.
  • Strong skills in creating detailed project plans and high-level milestones to keep projects on track.
  • Proficiency in managing complex program plans across various tools, particularly Microsoft Project and POL.
  • The ability to influence and work independently while also fostering strong teamwork and collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills to build relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  • Strong prioritization skills to manage conflicting demands effectively.
  • A keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy while working at a fast pace.
  • The ability to create engaging visual reports that clearly communicate timelines, critical paths, risks, and due dates.
