Job Title: Principal Town Planner
Location: Winchester
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Principal Town Planner to take on a senior leadership role within a growing consultancy, working across a diverse portfolio of projects including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping project strategy, managing clients, and supporting the growth of the business.
THE ROLE
As a Principal Town Planner, you will lead and oversee a range of planning projects from early-stage strategy through to submission and determination.
You will take a proactive role in client engagement, provide high-level planning advice, and mentor junior team members, positioning yourself as a key figure within the business as a Principal Town Planner.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leading and managing complex planning applications and projects
- Providing high-level strategic planning advice to clients
- Acting as a key point of contact for major clients and stakeholders
- Overseeing the preparation of planning reports and documentation
- Managing and mentoring junior team members
- Liaising with Local Planning Authorities and key consultees
- Driving business development and identifying new opportunities
- Supporting the overall growth and direction of the business
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- RTPI accredited degree in Town Planning or related discipline
- MRTPI qualified
- Extensive experience within a planning consultancy environment
- Strong leadership and project management skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and client-facing abilities
- Proven track record in managing complex projects
- Strong commercial awareness and business development skills
