We are looking for a committed and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school setting in Trowbridge, providing dedicated 1:1 support to a student with additional needs. This role is centred around building a strong, trusting relationship and delivering personalised support to help the student access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consistent 1:1 support to a student with Special Educational Needs
- Assist in the delivery of tailored learning activities and interventions
- Adapt resources and tasks to meet the student's individual needs
- Support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
- Help the student engage with lessons and maintain focus
- Monitor and record progress, feeding back to teaching staff and SENCO
- Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs or support plans
- Promote independence, confidence, and inclusion within the classroom
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (e.g., ASD, SEMH, ADHD, MLD)
- Patient, nurturing, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
- Proactive and adaptable mindset
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
Desirable
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant qualification)
- Experience providing 1:1 support in a school or similar setting
- Understanding of EHCPs and SEN support strategies
