Are you an experienced Functional Safety Engineer looking for a role where you can take full ownership of safety critical systems across a complex, global manufacturing environment?

This is a chance to step into a highly influential position within a major international organisation operating large scale industrial assets across multiple regions, where safety, reliability, and operational integrity are central to everything they do.

You will play a key role in ensuring the ongoing safety and performance of safety instrumented systems across live, operating facilities, working closely with site teams, engineering functions, and global stakeholders. The work is highly varied, combining technical delivery, operational support, and continuous improvement across both brownfield modifications and ongoing asset integrity programmes.

The organisation is a globally recognised industrial business within the chemical sector, with a strong focus on safety performance, operational excellence, and long term investment in its manufacturing sites. You will be joining a technically strong engineering environment where Functional Safety is embedded into day to day operations and decision making.

This role would suit a Senior Functional Safety Engineer with strong experience across the IEC 61511 lifecycle, ideally with operator side or live brownfield plant experience, now looking to take on a globally focused role with significant technical influence.

• Lead Functional Safety activities across live industrial sites, ensuring compliance with IEC 61511 and internal safety standards
• Own and deliver SIS lifecycle activities including SRS development, SIL determination, verification, validation, and ongoing system performance reviews
• Support and participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and other process safety studies across brownfield modifications and operational improvements
• Provide technical input into safety instrumented system modifications, risk assessments, and asset integrity strategies
• Work closely with global engineering and operations teams to ensure consistent application of functional safety standards across multiple sites

• Strong background in Functional Safety engineering within chemical, oil & gas, energy, or other high hazard process industries
• Hands on experience across the IEC 61511 lifecycle, including SIS design, SRS development, SIL verification, and validation activities
• Strong preference for candidates with operator side, live plant, or brownfield engineering experience
• Comfortable working independently across technical disciplines while engaging with operations, maintenance, and engineering stakeholders
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally on a regular basis as part of a global engineering function
