Job Description

Family Support Worker

A local authority is seeking a Family Support Worker to deliver early help and targeted interventions to children, young people (0-19) and families. This is a hands-on role focused on improving outcomes and preventing escalation of need through direct, intensive support.

The Role

You will work directly with families in their homes and communities, carrying out assessments, delivering structured support plans, and working closely with partner agencies. The role requires a proactive, flexible approach and a strong focus on safeguarding and positive outcomes. This is a temporary, 12 weeks contract with potential extension.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver targeted interventions to children, young people and families

Complete holistic assessments and develop support plans

Manage a caseload and act as Lead Professional where required

Provide intensive family support through home and community visits

Work with multi-agency partners including schools, health and social care

Maintain accurate case records and reports

Support safeguarding processes and escalate concerns appropriately

Facilitate group work and support programmes where required

About You

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant field

Experience working with children, young people and families

Strong safeguarding knowledge and case management experience

Confident working independently and as part of a team

Excellent communication and engagement skills

Able to manage risk and work in challenging situations

Good IT and report writing skills

Additional Information

Flexible working required, including evenings and weekends

Must be able to travel across and outside the borough

May include participation in a duty rota
