Futures recruitment are working with a well-established manufacturing business looking to appoint a skilled CAD/CAM Programmer to join their growing technical team. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who is equally comfortable programming at a workstation and supporting operations on the shop floor.
You will work closely with the Technical Manager and production teams to develop, maintain and optimise CNC programmes, ensuring components are manufactured safely, accurately and efficiently. The position plays a key role in supporting both prototype development and full-scale production.
Key responsibilities include creating and refining Alphacam programmes for CNC routing and machining centres, as well as interpreting customer CAD data and SolidWorks drawings to generate accurate toolpaths, machining strategies and setup documentation. You will also focus on improving machining efficiency through better nesting, material utilisation and process planning.
In addition, you ll support new product introduction from initial prototype through to production, working collaboratively with operators and supervisors to troubleshoot machining and quality issues. You will also contribute to maintaining technical documentation such as BOMs, SOPs and work instructions, while actively supporting continuous improvement initiatives across CNC and fabrication processes.
