Teacher of Food Technology Full-Time
Location: Watford, Hertfordshire
Salary: £34,398 £46,839 (MPS/UPS, dependent on experience)
Start Date: September 2026

Due to forward planning for the new academic year and continued growth within the department, the school is seeking to appoint a passionate and motivated Food Technology Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This full-time, long-term opportunity is ideal for both experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers looking to build their career within a supportive and forward-thinking school.

The Opportunity
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students to develop practical cooking skills, nutritional understanding, and confidence in food preparation. The successful candidate will support pupils in understanding healthy eating, food safety, and the principles of nutrition, helping them develop valuable life skills alongside academic success.

Key Duties Include:
Teaching Food Technology across KS3 and KS4 classes
Planning and delivering engaging, practical, and theory-based lessons that meet the needs of all learners
Monitoring student progress through effective assessment and constructive feedback
Promoting safe working practices and maintaining high standards of hygiene in the kitchen classroom
Encouraging creativity, independence, and an understanding of healthy lifestyles
Working collaboratively with departmental colleagues to support curriculum development
Contributing positively to the wider school community

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
Experience teaching Food Technology in a UK secondary school setting
Strong subject knowledge and a genuine enthusiasm for Food Technology and nutrition
An inclusive and reflective approach to teaching and learning
Effective classroom management and strong organisational skills
An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
