A well-established criminal defence law firm in central Southampton is seeking an experienced and motivated Criminal Defence Lawyer to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who is passionate about criminal law and client advocacy, and who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and well-respected practice.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Manage your own caseload of criminal matters, covering work across the Magistrates' Court and Crown Court.
• Attend police stations to provide legal support and representation.
• Engage in Magistrates' Court advocacy.
• Prepare and progress cases for the Crown Court.
• Provide comprehensive client care and legal representation from instruction through to conclusion.
• Depending on experience, there may be opportunities to undertake higher-level advocacy.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) or an appropriately experienced fee earner.
• Strong background in criminal defence work.
• Police Station Accreditation is highly desirable, or a willingness to obtain it.
• Confident in handling a full criminal caseload independently.
• Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
• Professional, committed, and client-focused approach.
