Prospero Teaching are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Head of Year to join the pastoral team and lead a cohort of students at a well-regarded community school in Manchester which is dedicated to high expectations, ambition, and success, where staff are valued and professional development is a priority.

The Role
The Head of Year is a key middle leadership position, central to upholding school virtues and ensuring students are safe, supported, and motivated to succeed. You will lead a team of tutors to create a positive, high-performing year group ethos, focusing on improving attendance, behaviour, and student wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pastoral Leadership: Lead and manage a team of tutors, ensuring high-quality pastoral care, assemblies, and consistent implementation of school policies.
  • Student Achievement: Monitor the academic progress, attendance, and behaviour of the cohort, intervening where necessary to remove barriers to learning.
  • Parent Liaison: Act as a key link between home and school, communicating regularly with parents and carers to involve them in their child's progress.
  • Safeguarding: Actively promote the safety and wellbeing of all students in the year group.
  • Behaviour Support: Manage behaviour issues, implement positive reinforcement strategies, and work with external agencies when needed.

  • Passionate about pastoral care and supporting student wellbeing.
  • Resilient and able to maintain energy and optimism in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate staff and students.

To Be Eligible You Must:

  • Hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Have an enhanced child barred list DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply)
  • Be able to provide two professional references (child-related preferred)
