Role Title: Commercial Manager (Rail)

End Date: 12 Months - Extension Available
Location: Birmingham - Hybrid
Rate: £110p/h max via Umbrella
Role Brief:
- Balance risk, opportunity, and financial returns in both pre- and post- contract commercial management with a focus on in year performance (revenue, cash, and EBIT) as well as supporting growth in the market.
- Provide oversight and commercial advice for preparation and negotiation of contract documentation including lump sum, target cost and re-measurable contracts.
- Lead on development of PQQ/ITT and contractor evaluation processes to support clients in chosen procurement routes.
- Interrogate and drive production of monthly PSR (CVR) and associated commercial reports such as Earned Value Management (EVM).
- Develop and implement the commercial strategy on projects to maximise revenue and cash flow.
- Set the standard and expectations for change control, contract management and claims/disputes.
- Guide project teams on commercial risks and opportunities.
- Interpret/input into contract programmes and schedules to identify associated risks and utilise commercial levers.
- Mentor and manage more junior members of the commercial team and promote regular visibility across offices and sites, where teams are based.
- Ensure compliance with the Company Management System (CMS) and all procedures, uphold company values and promote safety culture.
- Contribute to wider market and divisional requirements as they arise.
- Manage multiple internal and external stakeholders within project and business deadlines.
About you
- Track record of successful project delivery in a commercial management role, for either main contractor or consultancy in Transport, Water and Energy sectors.
- Expert in contract management and change control.
- Experience across a range of common Forms of Contract (particularly, expertise in NEC & NEC PSC).
- Ability to develop and implement procurement, supply chain and market management initiatives such as procurement strategies and alliancing agreements.
- Understanding of procurement law and regulations.
- Able to demonstrate leadership in solving problems and tackling challenges creatively.
- Excellent analytical skills and consistent attention to detail with the ability to solve complex problems and mitigate risks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication including report writing, presentations and contractual correspondence.
- Experience of leading and motivating a team within a large-scale business/project environment.
