We're looking for a National Collections Data Manager to join our Collections Access, Conservation & Management team. In this pivotal role, you'll lead our approach to collections data standards, governance and quality, shaping how information about one of the UK's largest and most significant collections is recorded, managed and shared. It's an exciting moment to join us as we implement a new Collections System (Axiell Collections) this summer, strengthening accountability, enabling access and ensuring our data is accurate, trusted and inspiring.
What it's like to work here
As part of the Collections Information team, you'll be the Trust's lead specialist for collections data, working closely with colleagues across Curatorial, Conservation, Digital, IT and Property teams. You'll also play an active role in the Trust's wider data community, helping to build shared understanding and confidence in how data is used across the organisation. We're a curious, supportive and collaborative team who value expertise and continuous improvement, working together to make our collections accessible for everyone, for ever.
Your contractual location will be our Head Office in Swindon with an expectation that you will attend regularly. However, there is flexibility on where you are based. You will typically be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview.
What you'll be doing
You'll lead the Trust's approach to collections data, setting standards, improving quality and ensuring information supports access, research and accountability. A core focus will be embedding and developing the new Collections System, underpinned by clear governance, consistent practice and a trusted dataset for a large user community. You'll establish strong foundations through data assurance, standards and user support, before leading longer term data governance and improvement activity. You'll also support users, represent the Trust externally and help unlock the potential of collections data to increase access, engagement and accountability.
You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what's possible in this role.
