Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Birmingham. This rewarding opportunity is centred around providing dedicated 1:1 support to children with a range of Special Educational Needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual potential.

About the Role

Working closely with class teachers, the SENCo, therapists, and wider support staff, your responsibilities will include:

Providing dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs Supporting children to access learning activities tailored to their individual abilities and EHCP targets Building positive, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe, confident, and engaged in school life Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and using positive behaviour management strategies where required Assisting with personal care in a respectful, dignified, and professional manner Encouraging independence, communication, and social interaction throughout the school day Monitoring pupil progress and sharing observations with teaching staff and other professionals Following safeguarding procedures and promoting a safe, inclusive learning environment at all times

Ideal Candidate Profile

Previous experience working with children in a school, care, nursery, youth work, or support setting A resilient and positive attitude, with the ability to remain calm in challenging situations Comfortable providing personal care as part of your daily responsibilities (essential) Patient, caring, and committed to supporting children with additional needs Able to build strong relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries Excellent communication and teamwork skills Reliable, punctual, and looking for a long-term temp-to-perm opportunity Experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, PMLD, SEMH, or other SEND needs is advantageous but not essential
