Clinical Negligence SolicitorSalary: Competitive and based on experience
Location: Birmingham
A unique opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Negligence Solicitor to join a nationally recognised Clinical Negligence team based in Birmingham.
This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of survivors, working alongside some of the most knowledgeable and compassionate professionals in the field. The team is renowned for its expertise in handling complex and sensitive cases, providing holistic support to clients, and championing improvements in safeguarding standards across society.
You will be welcomed into a friendly, inclusive, and supportive environment where your contributions are valued and your professional growth is encouraged. With flexible working opportunities, generous pension schemes, and a strong commitment to well-being and social responsibility, this position is ideal for someone who wants to combine their legal skills with a genuine desire to help others.
What you'll do:
- Manage your own caseload of clinical negligence and abuse claims from initial client contact through to resolution, ensuring each case receives thorough attention and empathetic handling throughout the process.
- Assist senior solicitors with more complex or high-value cases by conducting research, preparing documentation, and supporting litigation strategies as part of a collaborative team approach.
- Engage directly with clients who have experienced physical, sexual, or psychological abuse, providing them with clear advice, emotional support, and regular updates on their case progress.
- Work closely with Support and Rehabilitation Coordinators to ensure clients receive holistic care packages that may include therapy referrals, housing support, or other recovery services tailored to individual needs.
- Participate in group actions involving multiple survivors-such as those against institutions like schools or local authorities-requiring careful coordination and sensitivity to diverse client experiences.
- Contribute to ongoing efforts aimed at improving safeguarding standards within society by sharing insights gained from casework and participating in relevant training or awareness initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and manage all aspects of case administration in compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice guidelines for clinical negligence litigation.
- Attend court hearings, settlement meetings, or mediations as required, representing clients' interests with professionalism and compassion at every stage of proceedings.
- Support colleagues by sharing knowledge and collaborating on complex matters while also seeking feedback to enhance your own advocacy skills and legal understanding.
- Actively participate in internal training sessions and external networking events designed to foster professional development and strengthen connections within the wider legal community.
What you bring:
- A strong interest in clinical negligence litigation or personal injury law demonstrated through academic study or practical experience during training contracts or post-qualification roles (ideally 6 months+)
- Experience handling sensitive client matters, whether through previous legal work placements or voluntary role, showcasing your ability to communicate effectively with vulnerable individuals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills enabling you to provide clear advice while maintaining empathy and professionalism at all times.
- Proven organisational abilities allowing you to manage multiple cases simultaneously without compromising attention to detail or quality of service provided.
- A collaborative mindset that values teamwork over individual achievement; you thrive when working together towards shared goals within an inclusive environment.
- Commitment to continuous learning evidenced by proactive engagement with training opportunities or professional development activities relevant to clinical negligence law.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly when faced with new challenges or unfamiliar subject matter; you are open-minded about expanding your expertise into abuse litigation if not already experienced.
- Dedication to making a real difference for vulnerable clients by advocating for their rights both inside and outside the courtroom setting.
