Paralegal - Lending

  • Location: Guildford
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Salary: £26-28,000 (Depending on Experience)

We are seeking a Paralegal to join our Lending team, providing direct support to fee earners to enhance operational efficiency. This role is ideal for individuals with a legal background in Lending/Property, looking to contribute to a dynamic team.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Prepare correspondence and documents, possibly from digital dictation, and manage filing systems including the opening, closing, storage, and retrieval of client files.
  • Administer daily filing and handle mail and enclosures for dispatch.
  • Arrange copying, meetings, and maintain up-to-date diaries for fee earners.
  • Prepare conference rooms for meetings, providing refreshments and clearing the room post-meeting.
  • Attend to clients and agents in person and via telephone in a professional manner, updating and chasing for information as needed.
  • Assist with completion statements, post-exchange, and pre-completion formalities.
  • Handle online form submissions including SDLT forms and submit Land Registry forms.
  • Obtain information from local authorities and manage registration and post-completion formalities.
  • Engage in marketing and other non-core activities to support the department's broader goals.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Legal background with experience in Lending/Property.
  • Proficient IT skills in relevant software packages.
  • High accuracy levels and good work production matching fee earners' pace.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proactive approach to work, with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively.
  • Demonstrates good customer care, responsiveness, and attention to client service.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to self-development and willingness to engage in training and development activities.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with Practice Evolve or other case management systems.
  • Broad knowledge of law/legal practices.
