Trade Finance Lawyer

An international financial institution is seeking an experienced Trade Finance Lawyer to join its in-house legal team in London. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting a global Trade & Working Capital business, advising on complex financing transactions, strategic initiatives, and regulatory developments across multiple jurisdictions.

Description

The position offers exposure to transaction origination, structuring, execution, syndication activities, regulatory change programmes, and business transformation initiatives.

• Deliver legal advice on trade finance and working capital products, supporting transaction teams throughout the deal lifecycle.

• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of financing and trade-related documentation.
• Support structured finance and corporate lending transactions, ensuring legal risks are appropriately identified and managed.
• Partner with stakeholders including credit, risk, compliance, tax, operations, product management and execution teams to provide commercially focused legal guidance.
• Assist with the development and enhancement of legal frameworks, policies, controls and documentation standards.
• Support dispute management, investigations and other legal matters relevant to the business area.
• Deliver training and knowledge-sharing sessions to improve legal and regulatory awareness across the organisation.

Profile

• Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
• Strong experience gained within a leading law firm or reputable financial institution
• Proven background advising on banking and finance transactions.
• Knowledge of trade finance products, including guarantees, bonds, indemnity facilities, export credit agency-backed financings, letters of credit, promissory note discounting and related cross-border issues.

Job Offer

• Salary up to £130,000 depending on candidate experience
