Waste Data & Technical Support Officer
Location: Bedford Borough (with travel across the county as required)
Salary: 12.71ph

Contract: Till October 2026

Min 3 days a week office based

About the Role

We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Waste Data & Technical Support Officer to join our Waste & Resources team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of statutory waste services through the management, verification and analysis of waste data, alongside providing financial and technical administration support. You will work closely with waste contractors, internal stakeholders and partner authorities to ensure the accuracy of operational and financial information that supports essential environmental services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collate, verify and analyse waste tonnage data from contractors.
  • Produce accurate weekly and monthly performance reports.
  • Monitor contractor data and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Raise purchase orders, process invoices and support financial monitoring activities.
  • Maintain financial records and support budget management processes.
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers and stakeholders to obtain data and resolve queries.
  • Provide administrative support across the Waste & Resources service.
  • Support statutory reporting requirements, including WasteDataFlow submissions.
  • Assist with the administration and support of specialist waste management systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, data quality and reporting efficiency.

About You

We are looking for someone who can combine excellent administrative skills with strong numerical and analytical abilities.

You will have:

  • Significant administration experience, ideally within a data, finance or technical support environment.
  • GCSE Grade 5 (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics, or the ability to demonstrate these skills through experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using financial management systems and purchase ordering processes.
  • Strong data entry, verification and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of invoicing, payment processes and VAT requirements.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • An interest in environmental services, recycling and waste management.
