Work to controlled documents and requirements which meet the standards and legalities of the Railway Network. Dimensions of the JobFinancial No direct financial authority but has vital influence on company expenditure through the effective maintenance of traction and rolling stock.Staff responsibilities Responsible for the Wheel Lathe maintenance at operator level, controlling movements within the facility also working to MIE 0503 and CSD005Physical Mainline Locomotives, various Wagons and other Third-party itemsPrincipal Safety Accountabilities Ensure that company engineering standards and procedures are applied and followed, under the post holder's area of control to ensure that the traction and rolling stock meet the provisions of statutory Railway Group Standards and Codes of Practice.The post holder has a general duty to ensure that there is no harm to employees. Contractors, customers or the public.Principal AccountabilitiesAdhere to health and safety and local safety policy requirements, and other safety and technical standards. Comply with all instructions, rules and regulations in force.Carry out the machining of Rail Wheel Sets with the approved maintenance plans as required by the local manager.Ensure all relevant paperwork for examinations and repairs is correctly completed on time and to required company standards. Ensure that materials issued to locomotives and wagons are recorded and reported accurately.Take due care and attention to all tools and instrumentation used.Participate in all relevant training and competency assessment that the post holder is nominated for.Repair and commission all plant and equipment as required from time to time.Assist in the upkeep of maintenance vehicle history files either electronically or hard copies.Assist Team Leaders (under their direction) as required during maintenance and tyre turning events.Attend safety/quality and technical briefings as required.Be prepared to work in the areas of necessity to alleviate pressure, under the guidance of suitably qualified staff.Proactively undertake general duties relative to cleanliness of workshop areas, mess room, toilets etc in line with 5S requirements.Assist as required your immediate line manager.Successful Candidates will be required to pass a rail related Medical and Drug & Alcohol test before starting work
