Returns & Warehouse Operative

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Returns & Warehouse Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customer returns, providing excellent customer service over the phone, processing returned products, and supporting warehouse operations including picking, packing, and stock control.

The role requires strong IT skills, technical aptitude, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Returns Processing

• Receive, inspect, and process returned products in line with company procedures.
• Assess returned items and accurately record return reasons and outcomes.
• Update internal systems with return information and customer records.
• Liaise with customers regarding return enquiries, warranties, refunds, and replacements.
• Ensure returns are handled efficiently and within agreed service levels.

Customer Service

• Communicate professionally with customers via telephone and email.
• Resolve customer queries relating to orders, deliveries, returns, and product issues.
• Provide technical support and product guidance where appropriate.
• Build positive customer relationships through excellent service.

Warehouse Operations

• Pick and pack customer orders accurately and efficiently.
• Receive and book in stock deliveries.
• Assist with stock control, inventory checks, and warehouse organisation.
• Ensure products are correctly labelled, stored, and dispatched.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised warehouse environment.

Technical & IT Responsibilities

• Use warehouse management systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Troubleshoot and identify faults in returned products where applicable.
• Maintain accurate records and reports using company systems.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process efficiencies.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Previous experience in a returns, warehouse, logistics, or customer service role.
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database/system usage.
• Excellent telephone manner and customer service skills.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
