An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join a successful and growing international organisation based in Warrington.
This is a varied part-time position offering the opportunity to take ownership of the UK payroll, whilst also contributing to payroll process improvements and wider HR and Finance projects.
The RoleAs Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the UK payroll is processed accurately and on time, acting as the main point of contact for payroll-related queries across the business.
You will work closely with HR and Finance, as well as external stakeholders, ensuring payroll processes remain efficient, compliant and up to date.
Key Responsibilities- Take responsibility for the UK payroll, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
- Complete payroll reconciliations, journal entries, holiday accruals and other Finance-related accruals.
- Act as the main point of contact for employee and manager payroll queries.
- Provide guidance to HR on payroll, tax and social security implications relating to employee benefits and schemes.
- Maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including HMRC, payroll software providers and auditors.
- Manage absence management and expense declaration systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve and automate payroll processes and systems.
- Keep up to date with changes in UK payroll, tax and benefits legislation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK legislation, tax rules and internal controls.
- Investigate and resolve payroll queries effectively and efficiently.
- Support payroll-related projects and process improvements.
About YouThe successful candidate will have previous UK payroll experience and be confident managing payroll processes independently.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience within a UK payroll position.
- Good knowledge of UK payroll, tax and benefits legislation.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and meet strict payroll deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good Excel and IT skills.
- Experience with payroll systems and process improvement.
- Experience within an international organisation would be advantageous.
- A payroll qualification would be desirable.
