Description
The Deputy General Counsel will be:
Providing strategic and pragmatic legal advice to the Board, Executive Leadership Team and senior stakeholders across legal, regulatory, governance and commercial matters
Leading the identification and management of legal risk, monitoring regulatory developments and advising on their impact across the organisation
Providing specialist advice across FCA and PRA regulation, the Building Societies Act, Consumer Duty, mortgage lending, savings products, operational resilience and financial services legislation
Leading legal support on major commercial contracts, supplier arrangements, procurement exercises, strategic projects and contentious matters
Supporting corporate governance activities while providing leadership and technical direction to members of the legal and secretariat function
Profile
The Deputy General Counsel should be:
A solicitor, barrister or equivalent with significant legal experience gained within regulated financial services, either in house or within private practice
Experienced in advising on FCA and PRA requirements, financial services regulation, the Building Societies Act and Consumer Duty
Comfortable advising Boards, Executive Committees and senior leadership teams on complex and commercially significant matters
Strong across commercial contracts, corporate governance, legal risk management, regulatory compliance and financial services products
An influential senior lawyer with excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, ideally with experience leading others and managing external legal advisers

The package includes:
Salary of £80,000 to £95,000
4% performance related bonus
