Quality Manager
Location: Thetford, Norfolk Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Hours: Monday to Friday
About the Role
Our client, an established manufacturer, is looking to appoint a Quality Manager to take ownership of its quality and compliance operations. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys getting into the detail while also shaping how quality is managed across the wider business.
What You'll Be Doing
- Acting as the go-to person on all matters relating to quality, technical compliance and standards.
- Planning and delivering internal audits, while preparing the business for external inspections.
- Hosting and coordinating customer-led audits, ensuring the business puts its best foot forward.
- Leading on customer complaints - getting to the root cause and putting lasting corrective measures in place.
- Benchmarking current systems against GMP and ISO frameworks, with a view to future accreditation.
- Signing off incoming raw materials and components before they're released to production.
- Vetting and reviewing suppliers to confirm materials meet quality, consistency and ethical sourcing expectations.
- Keeping SOPs, procedures and technical policies current and fit for purpose.
- Maintaining accurate technical records across customer and regulatory platforms.
- Staying on top of portal updates, queries and submissions in good time.
- Partnering with other departments to iron out technical problems and push improvement projects forward.
- Picking up additional quality-related work as priorities shift.
What We're Looking For
- Strong experience in a quality, technical or compliance-focused role.
- Proven track-record in working within FMCG manufacturing; a background in chemicals preferred
- Sound working knowledge of BRCGS and what's involved in audit preparation.
- Hands-on experience running internal audits and managing external audit visits.
- A working understanding of COMAH and what it means for day-to-day compliance.
- Confidence in spotting risks early and putting sensible mitigations in place.
- The ability to write clear, useful reports that stand up to scrutiny - internally and externally.
- Practical experience keeping documentation and quality systems organised and current.
- A logical, solutions-focused approach when technical issues crop up.
- Comfortable communicating and building relationships with people at every level
- A close eye for detail and a structured way of working.
- A degree in a science-related subject would be preferred but isn't essential.
