Reed in Teesside are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established UK distribution business supplying products and services to customers across multiple sectors. Operating through a network of regional depots and distribution centres, the business is committed to delivering outstanding customer service, operational excellence, and high standards of health and safety.
They are looking to recruit 2 - 3 permanent HGV Class 2 drivers, their drivers are often the most regular point of contact for customers and therefore play a key role in maintaining customer relationships and representing the business professionally.

Working Hours
- Typical start times between 5:00am and 9:00am.
- Drivers generally work approximately 9 hours from their start time.
- Typical finish times range between 3:00pm and 6:00pm.
- During quieter periods, finish times may be considerably earlier.
- Employees are paid for contracted hours regardless of occasional fluctuations in workload.
- The role operates within a seasonal business environment, with workload varying throughout the year and peak periods occurring at specific times.
- No requirement for regular full weekend working.
- Typically 1-2 Saturdays per month.
- Saturday hours are returned through a Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) arrangement.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and basic defect reporting to ensure vehicles are safe and roadworthy.
- Deliver products safely and on time, following planned routes and delivery schedules.
- Load and unload stock using appropriate handling equipment, including sack barrows.
- Undertake manual handling activities, including moving kegs and other stock into customer premises.
- Pick stock from pallets when required.
- Ensure loads are secured correctly using approved load restraint systems.
- Check deliveries against paperwork and ensure accuracy at the point of delivery.
- Collect returns, reusable containers, and equipment and return them safely to site.
- Complete all required delivery documentation and handheld device tasks.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Valid Class 2 (Category C) Driving Licence.
- Driver CPC qualification.
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Good understanding of driver hours legislation, tachograph regulations, and working time requirements.
- Knowledge of safe loading and load restraint practices.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Professional and positive attitude when dealing with customers.
- Good communication skills.
- Reliable and able to work effectively within a team environment.
- Strong commitment to safe driving and workplace safety.
