Senior Quantity Surveyor

Contract: Freelance / Contract
Rate: £500-£550 per day (Inside IR35)
The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a JV Main Contractor on a major HS2 civils package based in Buckinghamshire. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key commercial role on one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects, supporting the successful delivery of complex civil engineering works while driving commercial performance and protecting project value.
Working closely with operational and commercial teams, you will be responsible for managing contractual obligations, maximising commercial returns, identifying risks and ensuring robust cost and value management throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, your duties will include:
Managing commercial resources and contract administration to maximise project value and profitability.
Preparing and submitting applications for payment, valuations, compensation events and commercial reporting information.
Identifying, assessing and mitigating commercial and contractual risks.
Supporting effective cash flow management through accurate measurement, valuation and invoicing.
Managing change control and compensation event processes.
Valuing subcontractor works and certifying interim and final payments.
Producing cost forecasts, cost-value reconciliations and commercial reports.
Supporting project delivery teams with commercial guidance and contractual advice.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, you will have:
Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, infrastructure, rail, highways or major construction projects.
Strong knowledge of NEC contracts, including compensation events and change management.
Proven experience managing commercial activities on large-scale infrastructure projects.
A Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
