Quality Manager
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead and develop the Quality function within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This is a senior leadership position responsible for driving quality excellence, maintaining quality management systems, ensuring customer satisfaction, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement across the site.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping and executing the site's quality strategy, ensuring products consistently meet customer expectations and regulatory requirements while supporting wider business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the site's Quality function, developing and implementing quality strategies aligned with business goals.
- Champion a culture of quality ownership throughout the organisation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, operational performance, and customer satisfaction.
- Contribute as a member of the site Leadership Team, supporting strategic business development and operational excellence.
Quality Management Systems
- Maintain and continually improve the site's ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Ensure all compliance audits, procedural reviews, and internal audits are conducted according to agreed schedules.
- Oversee calibration and compliance requirements for laboratory and testing equipment.
- Lead investigations into quality issues and ensure robust corrective and preventative actions are implemented and sustained.
Customer & Supplier Quality
- Act as the escalation point for customer and supplier quality concerns and non-conformances.
- Manage the customer complaints process, ensuring timely investigation, communication, and resolution.
- Develop strong relationships with customers and suppliers to support quality performance and continuous improvement.
- Drive improvements aimed at reducing customer complaints year-on-year.
Operational Quality Support
- Ensure effective quality control support across production, raw materials, and work-in-progress activities.
- Authorise product quarantine and corrective actions where required.
- Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Technical, and Continuous Improvement teams to identify and implement process improvements.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, develop, and motivate the Quality team to achieve operational and strategic objectives.
- Identify training, coaching, and development needs to build capability across the function.
- Ensure adequate resource planning and workforce capability to meet business requirements.
- Facilitate regular quality review meetings to share knowledge, drive accountability, and promote best practices.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in a senior Quality Management role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of Quality Management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Extensive experience managing ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Demonstrable success in leading quality improvement initiatives and embedding a quality-focused culture.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Experience managing customer and supplier quality issues.
- Project management and process improvement experience.
Desirable
- Experience working within highly regulated manufacturing environments.
Applicants must have the ability to pass Security Clearance and have been Resident in the UK for 5 Years or more.
