I am currently representing Islington Council who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience
We are looking for a Contingency Assurance Officer this role will be based at: N1 1XR Hybrid
The right candidate will:
- Responsible for co-ordinating training of the corporate crisis response team across Gold, Silver, Bronze, Resilience Advisors and Crisis Response Volunteers, encompassing the corporate management team and ensuring that the training meets the yearly requirement of refreshers training.
- To write exercises of various types, including live and tabletop, in order to test the contingency plans for emergency planning and business continuity corporately and departmentally at Islington Council at the statutory Borough Resilience Forum.
- To provide assistance to the Civil Contingencies Service Manager in relation to emergency plans and providing assurance to directorate management teams, corporate management team and producing reports on a regular basis in relation to resilience standards.
- To ensure that the team is measured against the 11 resilience standards as part of the London Resilience requirements and producing assurance reporting on behalf of the council and chief executive.
- Maintain the emergency planning teams resources and equipment at all levels of response including:

- the Borough Emergency Control Centre
- emergency communication channels
- rest centre resources
- To work with council departments, emergency services, and other category 1 and 2 responders, to assess risks and plan different types of exercises to test those plans.
We require the following:
- Extensive experience of emergency planning in a Local Authority including operating a Borough Emergency Control Centre or Rest centre and incident management. Application/Interview
- Substantial experience of incident management and testing and exercising of contingency plans.
- To be able to use significant expertise to assess the UK National Risk Register and London Risk Register to ensure that testing and assurance is set against the threats and risks to the council. Application/Interview
