Assistant Accountant

Your new company
An established manufacturing business based in Preston is looking to recruit an Assistant Accountant / Accounts Assistant on a 6-month temporary basis. Operating across the UK, the company manufactures and distributes specialist products and has built a strong reputation within its sector. Due to increased workload, they are seeking additional support within their finance team.

Your new role
Reporting into the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function. This is a varied position that would suit someone with previous accounts experience who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities will include:

• Processing purchase ledger invoices and investigating queries
• Assisting with sales ledger and credit control activities
• Bank reconciliations and cash allocation
• Preparing payment runs
• Assisting with month-end processes, including journals, accruals and prepayments
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting the preparation of management accounts
• Maintaining accurate financial records and reports
• Liaising with internal departments and external suppliers
• Providing general finance and administrative support as required

What you'll need to succeed

• Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant position
• Good understanding of purchase ledger, sales ledger and reconciliations
• Experience supporting month-end processes
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and finance systems
• Ability to manage priorities and work to deadlines
• A proactive and positive approach to work
